When you first meet Tracy Daly, you notice her sweet smile…her bubbly laugh…her polite manner…her zest for life. You would never guess that Tracy has had to overcome a few hardships in her 40 years of life.
When Tracy was young, her parent’s divorced. Tracy and her brother lived with their father. Even though he was an alcoholic and struggled to raise two kids, Tracy’s father did the best he could to provide.
As a teenager she combated an eating disorder and struggled to stay in high school. She had feelings of depression and withdrew from family. She was placed on medication, but it never seemed to help. She began hearing voices and displaying paranoid behavior. She continued to get worst and was finally diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia.
At the age of 24, she was admitted to a mental health facility. Also at this time, her father passed away she suffered a nervous break down. For the next three years, Tracy fought to overcome her mental illness. She triumphed and successfully learned how to live with her health issues.
When she was ready to return to the working world, she was referred to Goodwill Specialty Services and was hired as a custodian. Ten years later, Tracy is not the person she was when first coming to Goodwill. She has blossomed. She has transformed into a lively, responsible and very capable person. Tracy credits her coworkers and supervisor for making Goodwill such a positive and relaxing place for her. At Goodwill, Tracy not only found a sense of purpose to her life, but she has also found love. Tracy praises her boyfriend Aaron, whom she met at Goodwill, as well as her family for supporting her through the difficult times.
