YouthBuild Omaha is a program for young adults between the ages of 16-24 years who do not have a high school diploma. Participants will spend time in the classroom earning their GED while working with Habitat for Humanity to learn construction skills and build homes for low-income families.

Is YouthBuild Omaha for me?

If you are: Between 16 and 24 years old - Unemployed or a high school drop-out - Interested in learning construction - Interested in helping to build houses for low-income families - Ready to make a commitment. You could be eligible for the YouthBuild Omaha Program. Paid construction training - Paid adult basic education leading to a GED Training in leadership - Personal support - A chance for a good job, continued education, a bright future.

What is YouthBuild Omaha?

YouthBuild is a national educational, leadership, development and occupational skill-training program for disadvantaged young adults, ages 16–24. Participants will divide their time between classroom-based learning activities and on-site construction training.

YouthBuild Omaha involves a strong consortium of partners including Metropolitan Community College (Metro) and Habitat for Humanity. Participants will work with Habitat for Humanity to build three homes for low-income families. Participants will learn basic construction skills, tool identification, and blue print reading. Metro will provide GED preparation and leadership development. The program will be housed at Goodwill Industries at 4805 N. 72nd St. Upon completion of the program, graduates of YouthBuild Omaha will receive placement and follow-up services.
